Rebecca Hui maps the world by hand and by satellite. In the field, she sketches what moves her — the fold of a river, a baby whale learning to flap, and the humans from all walks of life she shares meals with. Drawing is how she finds places and people, and how she remembers them.
Her practice lives at the intersection of hand, heart, and geospatial technology. She has sketched remote rivers on nine-day transects from the Amazon to the Green River, mapped the ocean floor to protect what we love, and helped governments respond to flood disasters through usable dashboards. She has worked with the Indian government to map water systems for 44,000 villages, and spent 10+ years leading Rurban — reimagining cultural preservation through indigenous intellectual property with Patagonia, Chanel Foundation, A24, and UNDP.
